How it works

Words per minute is calculated the standard way — every 5 typed characters count as one word — divided by the elapsed time since your first keystroke. Accuracy tracks every character position you ever mistyped, even ones you later corrected, so a clean final result only comes from typing it right the first time.

Worked example

If you type a 100-character passage correctly in 24 seconds, that's 20 words typed in 0.4 minutes — 50 WPM — and if you never mistyped a character along the way, 100% accuracy.
